We believe that our primary job is to provide you with the right system for your needs. We are so committed to delivering quality to you that we make all of our units by hand. Every Mermaid Manufacturing air conditioning product is constructed of quality components assembled on solid stainless steel bases right here in the United States.
All of our marine air conditioning models are available in 120VAC, 220VAC 50 Hertz, or 220/230 50/60 Hertz (US) configurations. The differences between each unit relates to their cooling capacity. We have the right system for marine vessels ranging from the smallest cabin cruiser to a 75′ sailing yacht. We also supply the highest quality A/C pumps and marine thermostats in the industry.
AIR CONDITIONER PRODUCTS
3,500 BTU SYSTEM
With its small size and low power draw this unit is perfect for a cuddy cab or pilot house. With the help of a 12v inverter this unit will run for hours on a properly sized battery bank or solar system. It has a 120-degree rotatable blower for maximum compatibility. Its low-profile design makes it ideal for installing under a bunk or other tight spaces. The newly designed stainless steel drain pan has two drain locations to choose from and handles for easy carrying and handling during installation.
6,500 BTU SYSTEM
With the cooling capacity of 6500 BTU’s, this unit is ideal up to 450 Cubic feet of conditioned space. This unit is available in right, left or top air discharge configurations, and is available as a cool only, electric heat or reverse cycle heat unit. We use 4″ ducting and recommend a minimum of 2, 4″ round supply grills with this installation. More is always better! This unit is designed to run off generators that produce a minimum of 1000 running watts. . Another option is to use a properly sized Inverter with a large enough battery bank to run over night. The electric heat option generates 5,640 BTU of heat. Electric heat option is not available in 220/240 Volt configurations.
9,000 BTU SYSTEM
With the cooling capacity of 9000 BTU’s, this unit is ideal up to 650 cubic feet of conditioned space. The 9000 BTU unit is built on the same base as the 12000 and 16500 units. It is designed to run off a generator that produces 2000 running watts. This unit is available in right, left, or top air discharge configurations, and is available as a “Cool Only,” “Cool/Electric Heat,” or “Cool/Reverse Cycle Heat.” We use 6″ and 4″ ducting and recommend a minimum of three 4″ round supply grills with this installation.
12,000 BTU SYSTEM
With a cooling capacity of 12000 BTU’s this unit is ideal up to 850 cubic feet of conditioned space. This unit is available in Right, Left, or Top air discharge configurations. It is available as a “Cool Only,” Cool/Electric Heat,” or “Cool/Reverse Cycle Heat.” It is designed to run off a generator that produces 2000 running watts with an optional Soft Start. We recommend at least three discharges for this unit. One 8″ x 6″ grill should be within 6 feet of the unit and at least two other discharges need to be at least the 4″ round supply vents. As always, more is better; these are minimums. Electric heat is not available in 220 Volt configurations.
16,500 BTU SYSTEM
With a cooling capacity of 16500 BTU’s this unit is ideal up to 1200 cubic feet.
This unit is available in Right, Left, or Top air discharge configurations. It is designed to run off a generator that produces 2000 running watts with an optional Soft Start. We recommend at least three discharges for this unit. One 8″ x 6″ grill should be within 6 feet of the unit and at least two other discharges need to be at least the 4″ round supply vents. As always, more is better; these are minimums. The electric heat option is NOT available on this model.
24,000 BTU SYSTEM
With a cooling capacity of 24000 BTU’s this unit is ideal up to 1700 cubic feet.
The 24,000 BTU is available in Cool Only and Cool/Reverse Cycle. The M24 is available in Right, Left, and Top air discharge configurations and only comes in 220v. The air output collar holds an eight inch duct. It is recommended to use at least three vents on this unit – minimum sizes of 6 inch vents. As always, the more vents the better. We are able to provide air splitters to take eight inch to multiple six inch vents.
Installation, Service, and Warranty
We sell between 900-1200 marine A/C units to happy customers each year. Every new unit purchased from us comes with a 5 year warranty against material defects and workmanship. We believe in our manufacturing staff, so all repairs are done here on site. If you have any problem, just call us and we’ll explain how to arrange for service. We’ll even cover shipping costs for any units being serviced for the first 6 months after purchase. After that 6 month period, we’ll split the shipping costs with you.
You may choose certified technician to install your unit if you like. Or if you’re handy, you may be able to install the unit yourself like many of our customers do. It is to your discretion which you choose, Mermaid Manufacturing of SW F.L is not responsible for labor reimbursement. We’ll send a detailed installation and operations manual with every unit.
We’ll make it even easier for you by sending you an optional installation kit that includes everything you need except the water pump. The kit contains all the hoses, ducting, grills and more.
